I. Scope of Application of ASTM A526 Standard

ASTM A526 is a standard for commercial-grade hot-dip galvanized thin steel sheets, and its conventional thickness range is usually 0.3-5.0mm. The 6mm thickness mentioned by the user exceeds the conventional coverage range of this standard and may fall within the category of medium and thick plates. It is necessary to refer to other standards (such as ASTM A446 structural grade galvanized sheets) or negotiate and customize with the supplier.

Ii. Characteristics of 2mm and 3.5mm Thick Galvanized Sheets

1. 2mm thickness

Applicability: It complies with the ASTM A526 standard and belongs to the upper limit of the conventional thickness (close to 5.0mm). It is mainly used in scenarios such as building roofs and industrial equipment shells.

Processing performance: It should be noted that the straightening difficulty of plates larger than 2.0mm increases, and the price rises with the thickness.

2. 3.5mm thickness

Special applications: It belongs to thick plates for steel structures and is commonly seen in load-bearing scenarios such as Bridges and bases of heavy machinery. Structural steel standards such as DIN EN 10142 should be referred to.

Coating matching: It is recommended to use a high-zinc coating (such as Z275 or G90, corresponding to a galvanizing amount of 275g/m²) to enhance corrosion resistance.
