200 series stainless steel introduction:

200 series stainless steel is a special type of material, which belongs to a kind of austenitic stainless steel. The classification of this stainless steel is mainly based on its metal structure, including atmospheric austenitic stainless steel, ferritic stainless steel, austenitic ferritic (duplex) stainless steel, martensitic stainless steel and precipitation hardened stainless steel five categories. In a variety of applications, such as building components, decorative parts, vehicle structures, guardrail, household electrical components and shells, newspaper kiosks, telephone booths, dining utensils, medical equipment, austenitic stainless steel occupies a dominant position. According to statistics, the production or consumption of austenitic stainless steel accounts for about 75% to 80% of the total production or consumption of stainless steel.

Chromium-manganese (200 series) austenitic stainless steel is modified on the basis of chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steel. Manganese and/or nitrogen are added to the steel instead of the precious metal nickel to create this new type of stainless steel. In addition to manganese and nitrogen, this steel also contains a moderate amount of nickel (4% to 6%). The manganese in the steel stabilizes the austenite. At the same time, because nitrogen strongly forms and stabilizes austenite, and plays a good role in solid solution strengthening, the strength of austenitic stainless steel is improved. This makes the series of stainless steels particularly suitable for equipment and components carrying heavy loads, especially in environments where corrosion resistance is not required.
